Wall Rebar: all 86 settings

Open Detailing standard… for all 14 groups; use the main window Properties scope to override values. Deepest scope shows how specifically a field may be overridden: a Story group field cannot be overridden for just one Zone. Higher scopes still apply through inheritance. Units follow the UI; diameters are in mm. These explanations describe software controls, not a project reinforcement design.

ConcreteStory groupSelect the model concrete grade; it changes calculated anchorage/lap lengths. Recheck the Lan/Ll table by diameter.
Longitudinal steelStory groupSelect the longitudinal steel grade for anchorage/lap calculations; this does not change diameter.
Tie / hook steelStory groupSelect tie steel grade; tie diameter is set separately under Boundary elements and S-ties.
Wall face coverStory groupCover to the outermost steel layer. Increasing it moves reinforcement inward and reduces room for the two layers.
Cover at slab top (top anchorage)CoreSlab cover at the top anchorage; controls elevation and space available for the bend.
Cover at foundation bottomCoreBottom foundation cover; controls starter-foot elevation.
Horizontal bars placedCoreChoose outside/inside vertical bars. This swaps layer order; check the section and boundary anchorage.

DiameterZoneChange vertical web-bar diameter. With unchanged spacing, mass, lap lengths and clearances can still change.
Max spacing aZoneReduce 200→150 mm for denser bars; increase it for fewer bars. Equal distribution keeps actual spacing within this maximum; check the plan count.
DistributionBranchEqual spacing ≤a redistributes the run; fixed a with remainder at both ends keeps the interior pitch. Check bars next to boundary zones.

4. Horizontal bars

① Field labels; ② values and allowed override scopes. Captured from the English UI in Revit; click to view the full screenshot.

UI fieldDeepest scopeHow to use it and its output effect
DiameterStoryHorizontal-bar diameter; recheck end, L/T anchorage and clearance to vertical bars.
Spacing aStoryReduce spacing to add horizontal rows; increase it to reduce rows. Check Elevation and generated-set Properties.
First bar above slab s0BranchOffset from the slab surface to the first horizontal row. Increasing s0 raises that row and can change the remaining row count.
Continue through the slab zoneBranchEnable horizontal reinforcement through the slab zone; disable to omit that zone. Inspect the wall/slab junction.
Free end / opening edgeBranchU-bar joins the layers; 90° hook bends the end; None omits that end detail. Inspect free and opening edges in plan.
U-bar legBranchFor U-bars: use Ll or a fixed 300/400 mm leg. Changes the U anchorage/lap extent.
L cornerCoreChoose separate L-corner bars or continuous outer-face bending; changes horizontal paths and laps at corners.
T junctionCoreChoose a far-face 90° hook or U-bar around the flange; inspect anchorage into the T flange.

UI fieldDeepest scopeHow to use it and its output effect
Boundary elementZoneEnable/disable the selected boundary zone. Disabling removes its boundary detailing; recheck end reinforcement and warnings.
Length lcZoneChoose formula max(0.15·lw;1.5·t), fixed length or bar-count-based length. Changes the boundary/web interface.
Fixed lcZoneUsed for fixed lc. Enter boundary length in mm and check room for nX bars and clear spacing.
Bars per face nXZoneBars per face, not the combined two-face count. Increase 3→4 for more boundary steel; check bar dots and restraint.
DiameterZoneLongitudinal boundary-bar diameter, independent of vertical web-bar diameter.
Closed hoopZoneClosed boundary-hoop diameter. Count is governed by a1/a2 and spreading lengths.
Hoop spacing inside hcr a1ZoneHoop spacing inside critical height hcr. Reduce for denser hoops there; this is separate from a2.
Hoop spacing outside hcr a2ZoneHoop spacing outside hcr. Reduce to increase hoop count in that region.
C-tiesZoneAutomatic when bars are more than 200 apart, select on canvas, or None. For manual layout inspect boundary-section restraints.
Hoops through the slab zoneBranchEnable boundary hoops through slab zones. Separate from horizontal web bars through slabs.

① Field labels; ② values and allowed override scopes. Captured from the English UI in Revit; click to view the full screenshot.

UI fieldDeepest scopeHow to use it and its output effect
Lap length LlStory groupChoose code calculation, factor×diameter or manual mm. The factor/manual field determines Ll only in its matching mode.
Treat wall bars asStory groupChoose tension/compression assumption for calculated laps; changes Ll, not model loading.
Factor (when × Ø)Story groupIn factor×diameter mode, 40 with Ø16 gives 640 mm before rounding. Read the final Ll table.
Manual LlStory groupUsed only in manual-mm mode. Check can still report LAP_SHORT for insufficient length.
Round upProjectRound upward to 10/50/100 mm increments. Larger increments can increase final Ll.
Lap positionStoryLap above slab+e0 or at mid-story. Changes lap elevation; inspect Elevation for insufficient vertical space.
e0StoryOffset above slab for slab-based laps; not the lap length Ll.
StaggerStory group50% staggered with centers 1.3Ll apart, or 100% at one elevation. Changes lap grouping and required vertical space.
Web lap typeBranchContact lap or 1Ø crank (1:6) for web bars; inspect bar geometry at the splice.
Boundary / node lap typeBranchSeparate splice style for boundary/node bars; does not change web-bar splices.
Storeys per barStory groupOne or two stories per bar; changes segmentation. Check stock-length limits and section-change stories.
Max stock bar lengthProjectStock-length limit for BAR_TOO_LONG checking; do not assume it automatically cuts every bar to that length.

9. Storey transitions

① Field labels; ② values and allowed override scopes. Captured from the English UI in Revit; click to view the full screenshot.

UI fieldDeepest scopeHow to use it and its output effect
Max offset to crank δmaxBranchMaximum offset allowing a crank. Larger offsets can require terminated/anchored lower bars and embedded upper bars.
Crank slope 1 : nBranchDenominator n in 1:n. For a fixed offset, larger n needs more vertical length; check slab thickness and soffit warnings.
Anchor leg LkBranchAutomatic bend to meet total Lan, or fixed bend length, for the applicable terminated/transition bars.
Fixed LkBranchLk is used for fixed bend length. Check TOP_ANCHOR_SHORT and available space.

Opening trim ≥ … of the cut steel (OPENING_TRIM)ProjectOpening trim area as a percentage of interrupted steel. Increase actual reinforcement with the opening-trim control.

Entering and applying values

Numeric fields accept nonnegative values with a dot or comma decimal separator; relevant spacing/count/length fields require positive values. Enter whole numbers for counts. Reinforcement text must contain Ø, e.g. 2Ø16 or Ø8 a150; a bare diameter is not a lintel reinforcement specification. Resolve input errors before Save / Apply to project. Run Check, review the preview, then Create reinforcement and inspect actual Rebar in 3D. Changing a warning threshold does not fix inadequate detailing.
